A leading commercial contractor is seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join its team in Knoxville, TN. In this role, you will be instrumental in the project development process, analyzing bid requests, reviewing construction drawings, and preparing accurate cost estimates to ensure profitability and project success.

Responsibilities:

Pre-Construction:

• Assess bid requests from general contractors, architects, and facility managers.
• Review construction drawings and perform material takeoffs to develop precise estimates.
• Research materials and vendor specifications to align with project requirements.
• Participate in preconstruction meetings to support planning efforts.
• Determine safety requirements for job sites.

Construction Support:

• Collaborate with Project Managers to manage change orders efficiently.
• Maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure competitive pricing and timely product procurement.
• Provide urgent assistance with change orders during project execution.

Team Collaboration:

• Assist Directors in refining proposals to create winning bids.
• Build strong relationships with General Contractors to ensure project alignment.
• Support Project Consultants, Managers, and Installation Teams by providing essential project details.

Qualifications:

Required:

• 2-5 years of experience in commercial construction estimating.
• Strong understanding of material takeoffs and quantity surveying.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and time management.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Onsite presence required (this is an in-person position).

Preferred:

• Experience with estimating software like Bluebeam, Measure Square, or ProEst.
• Familiarity with commercial construction products and finishes.
• Background in flooring, ceiling, or wall systems estimation.
• Experience with CAD or similar design software.
